You’ll be forgiven if the first thing that pops into your head when someone mentions fishing in Massachusetts is a big striped bass being pulled onto a sandy beach or a school of bluefish blitzing bait off the shores of a coastal town. No question, Massachusetts is a saltwater angler’s heaven. But if you shift your attention to the western edge of the Bay State, out past Springfield and the Basketball Hall of Fame, out toward Mount Greylock, the Norman Rockwell Museum and Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, you’ll find a northern pike paradise.
