When he was just 13 years old, Capt. Kip Mammano purchased his first downriggers with money earned by working at his father’s restaurant. As a teen-ager he fished Keuka Lake, one of New York’s Finger Lakes, but focused his efforts on Lake Ontario soon after graduating from college. He’s been a charter captain there for 13 years. Capt. Mammano’s Rochester Sport Fishing (rochestersportfishing.com) is based in the Westpoint Marina at Braddock Bay, a location that puts his Crestliner 275 Sportfish in close proximity to lake structure that draws king salmon, steelhead and brown trout.
