You don’t need a big boat and a ton of lights like Dubrule to catch squid (though it helps). You can find a cheap squid-fishing light for around $20 online. Use the same hi-lo rig we used and fish along the bottom. Anglers in the Northeast should shoot for April to June and into the fall when the water temp is between 50 and 65 degrees. If you’d like to book a trip on Dubrule’s boat, contact Blackhawk Sportfishing (blackhawksportfishing.com). The price is around $75 per person, and it’s a good idea to book a hotel room nearby if you live far from Niantic.
