Pencil Puncture

If you put water into a plastic bag and pushed a sharp pencil into it, what do you think would happen? Get ready to be surprised!

WHAT YOU NEED: • a plastic zip-top sandwich bag• a pencil with a very sharp point• water WHAT TO DO: 1. Put water into the plastic bag until it is about HALF FULL. Zip it closed so water doesn’t spill out. Do this whole experiment OVER THE SINK – just in case! 2. Hold the bag of water BY THE TOP in one hand and the pencil in your other hand. 3. PUSH the point of the pencil into the side of the bag, right through the plastic, until it touches water. The water WILL NOT run out. Keep pushing the pencil through the bag until it pokes out the OTHER SIDE. The pencil will be through the bag, but no water will leak out! Your friends will think you…
