Rainbow grasshoppers are also known as painted grasshoppers, barber pole grasshoppers, or by their official name Dactylotum bicolor. They grow tiny wing-pads on their backs, but these wings are so small that rainbow grasshoppers cannot fly. If you want to find a rainbow grasshopper, you’ll need to hunt in the grasslands of Texas, Arizona, or New Mexico. However, you might find them as far north as Canada or as far south as Mexico. Birds will probably not be hunting with you because many birds think rainbow grasshoppers taste icky!…
