The words above describe a Komodo dragon. It is the largest lizard in the world, living on the islands of Indonesia. Imagine a lizard as long as a small car, with rough, scaly skin, powerful legs, and a long, flicking tongue. The longest dragon ever seen was over 10 feet. Of that length, half of it was the tail! The Komodo dragon mainly lives on the decaying flesh of dead animals, tearing huge chunks of meat and swallowing them whole. If it attacks an animal, it is strong enough to eat the flesh while holding the carcass down with its forelegs. It can swallow smaller animals the size of a goat whole!
