Not to worry – yet SD Tucker’s piece on Moloch and the future of AI [FT447:38] was immensely entertaining, but I do think fears of an artificial intelligence (AI) driven apocalypse are (at least at the moment) somewhat exaggerated. When I am not looking after the FT news pages I work for a tech startup that has some involvement with AI, and I find that while the current AI systems are impressive in what they do, what they do is mostly smoke and mirrors and a long way from becoming an intelligence that could bring us all to ruin.
