Do Latin American writers, he asks, have a unique relationship with horror? When I began writing Monstrilio, I didn’t set out to write a horror book. Now, working on my second novel, I still don’t. Rather horror creeps around me, luring me with its striking images, with its desire to test the limits of what makes us human, with its inherent thrill.
