Errant elephant seal refuses to accept forced relocation

Emerson, a 500lb (227kg) elephant seal, had been causing chaos for some months in Victoria, the state capital of British Colombia, Canada, where he had developed a reputation for ending up in “unusual locations”, including flower beds, city parks and busy roads. His presence attracted considerable attention from the public. “People have approached Emerson to try and pet him, take selfies with him, and on occasion prompted their small children to do the same,” the department of fisheries and oceans said. “If public disturbances of the elephant seal continue, someone will get hurt.” The public, though, ignored the warning.
