Horribly charred baby sign puts Japanese general store on the map

For many years a general store in Nagahama City, Japan, advertised itself with a sign showing a cute baby with a speech bubble-saying “We have lots of good, cheap things”. However, a particularly hot summer in 2023 affected the ink on the bill-board, destroying the baby’s eyes and turning it into a facsimile of one of the sinister, mythical “black eyed children”. Once the decay had started, further heat damage this year turned the baby into a charred, screaming monstrosity.
