CHINESE PANTS I An unnamed Chinese company recently made public a text exchange between their customer support team and a member of the public. In these, the woman claimed that her daughter had become pregnant through wearing a pair of brand-new underpants bought from the company through Taobao, a major Chinese online retail platform. “My daughter is pregnant after wearing your underwear,” the woman wrote, and although the company’s staff answered that “underwear cannot be used as a means of transmission of pregnancy” the complainant insisted that this had happened and would not be placated, demanding an explanation. In the end, customer service told her that its factory staff were all women, and that their boss had had a vasectomy, so there was no way in which the girl’s pregnancy…
