Es ist der Blick, der einen nicht loslässt. Ihre grünen, markanten Augen, die einen unter halb geschlossenen Lidern hervor ansehen: Zärtlichkeit liegt darin, Skepsis, Bitterkeit und eine Spur von Bedrohung. Der britische Filmkritiker Barry Norman hat einmal das Verb „to rample“ eingeführt, was so viel bedeutet wie: einen Mann mit einem kalten, sinnlichen Blick ganz klein werden lassen. Doch vor allem kann Charlotte Rampling andere damit auf Abstand halten. Etwas, das lange von großer Bedeutung für die britische Schauspielerin ist.
