SPIRITS IN THE SKY B-2 Stealth Bombers can do it all—unseen!

The B-2 Spirit, commonly known as the “Stealth Bomber,” has now been flying for over 32 years, having first flown on July 17, 1989. The maiden Spirit voyage, serial number 82-1066, departed from Palmdale, California at 0638 and landed approximately two hours later at Edwards AFB, California. Whiteman AFB received its first B-2, 88-0329, on December 17, 1993, and was officially named the “Spirit of Missouri.”

The B-2 employs special coatings, composite materials, and, when coupled with the flying wing design, allows the aircraft's “stealthiness” to be exceptional. Spirit Specs The B-2 has…
