Can lightning strike twice with Ferrari's new F80?

Ferrari doesn't do the supercar tiers in the way McLaren does but if it did, the new F80 would sit in the same column as the Enzo and LaFerrari – in other words extremely exclusive, exotic and infused with motorsport goodness. However, unlike its ancestors, the new F80 makes do with a relatively puny 3.0-litre V6, rather than a V12. It seems strange considering that Ferrari recently gave the world the 12 Cilindri supercar, and sharing those development costs over two nameplates would have made a lot of financial sense. Instead, the 3.0-liter V6 hybrid aligns better with Ferrari's Formula One power unit; same configuration, identical displacement and electrical assistance.
