WITH ITS 12.6 MILLION MEMBERS LOOKING TO ASSERT more control over their health than ever before, healthcare giant Kaiser Permanente “needed to take a leap in our digital experience,” says Prat Vemana, chief technology officer at the Oakland, California-based nonprofit organization. That leap encompassed a full redesign of Kaiser Permanente’s website and member app beginning in March 2021, which the company’s in-house development team completed with input from physicians and members. The overhaul brought intuitive app and website navigation, and uncluttered the user experience even as Kaiser layered in new features like on-demand urgent care and a personalized homepage that makes benefits information, lab results, and prescriptions accessible in one place. From other providers, “these would all be four or five apps that don’t talk to each other,” Vemana says.…
