Free State Agriculture (FSA) has expressed serious concern about the National Energy Regulator of South Africa's (NERSA) recent approval of a 12,7% increase in electricity tariffs for the 2025/26 financial year.
According to Francois Wilken, president of FSA, the time had come for every role player in the South African agricultural value chain, including Eskom, to recognise that unrestrained tariffs increases could affect the sector's ability to continue providing sufficient, quality and affordable food.
