My local SPAR was running a ‘Buy 3 Magnums and get a Magnum Ice Cream Pint for free.’ So I thought, why not? When you open the tub, the ice cream is covered with a layer of chocolate that you have to crack open. But it doesn’t end there. There are also chocolate pieces in the ice cream itself. Scoops and scoops of deliciousness, and before I knew it I had finished two-thirds of the tub! I have tried the Classic and they also have a White Chocolate flavour, but Almond trumps it for me. How to wash fresh produce

As a rule of thumb, you should always wash your produce – even if it’s organic, even if you don’t plan to eat the skin, and even if it says that it has been prewashed. Discard the outer leaves of leafy produce, such as cabbage and lettuce; and peel the skin or trim holes or crevices where pesticides could accumulate, especially in produce that will be eaten raw. Do not use soap, detergent or any commercially produced wash. Instead scrub the produce with a clean brush for at least 1 minute under running warm water to reduce dirt, germs and pesticide residues. You can collect the water in a bowl to water your garden. Fragile and soft fruits, such as berries, can be placed in a strainer or colander and…

A nip, not a nightcap Midlife comes with all kinds of challenges, but for most people, poor sleep tops the list. According to Kevin Morgan, professor of psychology at Loughborough University’s Clinical Sleep Research Unit, studies estimate that 40–70% of older people have chronic sleep problems. The main issue, he says, is not falling asleep but rather remaining asleep. WE are sitting quietly by the lagoon when someone starts talking loudly to us from the balcony of the neighbouring guest house.
