It’s been a while, but you don’t forget. Actually that’s not true. For my sins I’ve forgotten entirely the car I went to drive at Goodwood that day, for it was not the Ferrari 250 SWB in which Stirling Moss won his seventh and final TT at this very track in 1961. I was the editor ofMotorSport magazine and, idiot that I clearly am, I’d sent my deputy Matthew Franey to drive the Ferrari. But it was there, and I was too, so… well, you would, wouldn’t you?
