Virus mit zwei Gesichtern Windpocken sind unheimlich ansteckend. Wer nicht dagegen geimpft ist, bekommt sie fast immer schon als Kind, ist dafür dann aber meist lebenslang immun. Aber: Etwa 20 Prozent aller Menschen, die Windpocken hatten, erkranken später an Gürtelrose. Denn beide Infektionen werden vom gleichen Virus ausgelöst: Herpes zoster. Dieses Virus verschwindet nach überstandener Windpockenerkrankung nicht aus dem Körper, sondern zieht sich ins Nervengewebe zurück. Ist das Immunsystem –zum Beispiel im höheren Alter oder bei Stress – geschwächt, kann das Virus wieder aktiv werden. Wenn Opa oder Oma als Kinder Windpocken hatten, können sie also die Gürtelrose bekommen. Es sei denn, sie lassen sich dagegen impfen.…
