Eine Frau hat zwei Lebensfragen: Was soll ich kochen, und was soll ich anziehen?“, hieß es vollmundig in einer Werbung von Dr. Oetker in den 50er-Jahren. Die Finanzen, ganz klar, waren Sache des Mannes. Wie sollte sich die Frau auch darum kümmern, wenn sie bis 1962 ohnehin ohne Erlaubnis des Ehemannes kein eigenes Konto eröffnen konnte? Und auch als sie dann ein eigenes Konto haben durfte, war nicht immer gesagt, dass da auch eigenes Geld drauf kam. Denn bis 1977 durften Ehefrauen in Deutschland nicht ohne Zustimmung des Ehemannes arbeiten. Bitte was? Unvorstellbar! Wie konnten sich die Frauen das nur gefallen lassen?
