Photographer Matthias Hombauer discusses the secrets behind his success capturing the world’s most famous musicians

Few photographers can claim to be qualified electrical engineers with a PhD in molecular biology, but Matthias Hombauer (www.howtobecomearockstarphotographer.com) certainly can. “After years of frustration with my job and life situation I realised that I wasn’t going to be happy for the rest of my life with it. Instead I decided to follow my two passions instead: music and photography,” he explains. “I have been a music lover ever since the first Guns N’ Roses concert I saw at the age of 13. I got my first camera when I was 28 years old and started to shoot concerts in small clubs without any professional photography training.
