Día Mundial Contra el Cáncer, la lucha continúa

EL 4 DE FEBRERO SE HA CONVERTIDO EN UNA JORNADA PARA CONCIENCIAR SOBRE UNA ENFERMEDAD PARA LA QUE SE NECESITA PREVENCIÓN, DETECCIÓN PRECOZ E INVESTIGACIÓN.

Hay razones para la esperanza. El impulso de la ciencia, con nuevos y alentadores ensayos y tratamientos, algunos desarrollados en España, nos llevan al optimismo, pese a lo negativo de algunos datos. Y es que el cáncer es la principal causa de muerte y el problema sociosanitario más importante, según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), y se calcula que hacia 2030 habrá 21,6 millones de nuevos casos de cáncer. En nuestro país se prevé que haya más de 330.000 nuevos para esa fecha, con un diagnóstico cada 1,8 minutos. Esto significa que 1 de cada 3 mujeres y 1 de cada 2 hombres sufrirán esta enfermedad a lo largo de su vida, según el Observatorio del Cáncer.
