WANDERLUST / PHOTO ESSAY Australian photographer Anne Stroud began planning her most recent trip to the Southern Highlands in New South Wales, about 100 kilometres south-west of Sydney, after her good friend and interior stylist Jane Goodall told her about the ambitious project she was working on: turning her farm into an English wildflower meadow with the help of landscape designer Dan Thomas. Thomas took the photographer and designer duo on a tour of Southern Highlands gardens, the terrain changing from lush rainforest to green farmland and from wild countryside to more formal private gardens, all revealing the variety of plant life that characterises the region. ‘We also saw Dan’s own garden, which is a testament to his vision and skills.
