Clan sells off assets 'to stand on its own feet'

The Clan Donald Lands Trust said it had taken the "difficult decision" to begin selling its assets, including Armadale Castle on Skye's Sleat peninsula.
The history of clan Donald, also known as clan MacDonald, dates back more than 800 years to the 12th century.
For almost 400 years, the clan ruled the western seaboards of Scotland, with its chiefs holding the title Lord of the Isles until 1493.
Its current high chief is Lord Godfrey MacDonald, 8th Baron MacDonald, with the role chiefly now ceremonial.
