David Campbell, 76, is accused of killing James Low at the Leafy Lane near to the Pitilie Track in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, on February 2024.
He is alleged to have disabled CCTV cameras at Tigh Na Caorann on Crieff Road in an "attempt to conceal" his whereabouts and discharged a shotgun at 65 year-old Mr Low.
