She was elected by 664 out of the 1309 students who voted, with her nearest rival securing 395 votes.
Chapman said: “It is a huge honour to be elected to this role and I thank each and every person who voted for me and all those who campaigned for me over this last week.”
The vote comes as the university struggles to fill a £35million budget deficit.
