Six-time Olympic cycling gold medalist Sir Chris Hoy was told he had stage four prostate cancer in September 2023 and went public in February last year. Sarra discovered she had MS three months later.
In her first solo TV interview, she spoke movingly to ITV's Lorraine about their health battles.
Speaking of her diagnosis, Sarra says: "You just don't sleep, everything is awful.
"It was about trying to control what I could, and I just thought, I can't do anything about cancer, I can't do anything about MS, I can't control any of that.
"What can I do? What can I help? What can I change? When everything is spiralling just to stop and say, 'Right now, we're safe, the children are safe, this can't define us. We will not become the victims of this." Asked about raising young children while coping with health problems, she adds: "With kids you don't get a chance, there's no time to stop and have a day in bed, you just don't get that opportunity. So yes, the children are everything for us and so are our family that surrounds us.
Sarra spoke to host Lorraine Kelly as part of the ITV show's March4March campaign.
Its aim is to support the one in four people who suffer low mood, as research reveals exercise and movement is beneficial in aiding better mental health.
Lorraine will ask viewers and celebrity supporters to pledge a number of steps across March to try to hit three million, which would be the entire length of the UK.
The show airs today, just over a year after 48-year-old Sir Chris revealed he had cancer. He said then that the diagnosis "came totally out of the blue" as there had been no warning signs.
The former sportsman added: "All I had was a pain in my shoulder and a little bit of pain in my ribs." A scan revealed a tumour, while a second two days later found the primary cancer to be in his prostate.
It has since spread to his shoulder, pelvis, hip, ribs and spine.
