Ex-Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson beamed after his horse Caldwell Potter won the Jack Richards Novices' Chase.
His team were seen hugging and punching the air in the parade ring as their galloping grey stormed to an emotional victory in the colours of late horse owner John Hales.
Next up Doddie The Great, named after the late Scotland rugby union star Doddie Weir, won the Pertemps Handicap.
