Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) is urging people against undergoing treatment at parties organised with unregulated providers, such as beauticians, where alcohol is being consumed.
And it warned cosmetic treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers and slimming jabs should only be administered by recognised healthcare professionals.
All of Scotland’s private health clinics, hospitals and hospices must legally register with HIS.
HIS director Eddie Docherty said: "Having a cosmetic treatment is a serious undertaking that should only be entered into with due considera- tion of the very real risks to an individual's health and safety.
"Bringing together the injecting of Botox, alcohol and a party atmosphere reduces people's judgment, and their ability to properly provide consent and consider the real risks.
