United have still not triggered the one-year extension in the contract of Amad, who has emerged as one of their most important players this season.
The 22-year-old has started in ten of United's last 13 games and scored the winner in the Manchester derby away to City last month.
United head coach Ruben Amorim said four weeks ago that United "will find a solution" to extend Amad's stay.
The winger has also outlined his desire to sign a new contract.
The failure to extend Amad's deal before the January transfer window is a surprise.
United activated the one-year option in contracts for Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal Mejbri in December 2023 as they intended to sell the trio in the summer.
The injury prone Lindelof, 30, has become unsellable at United and he is currently sidelined again.
The Swede will almost certainly be released in the summer.
Maguire, 31, earns around £200,000-a-week and it is uncertain whether United will extend such a high earner's contract until 2026 with cost cutting rife at the club.
United declined to exercise their one-year option in the contracts of David de Gea and Raphael Varane in recent summers and both back Maguire players were released.
