Dolly fans' joy as she makes first appearance

The country music icon, 79, surprised fans by turning up as usual for the opening of her Dollywood theme park’s season its 40th.
It marked her first public appearance since Carl died on March 3, aged 82.
Dolly told the audience in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains: “I need to laugh.
“I need some fun, so I'm probably gonna be stupid. I’ve been crying enough the last week or two. I’m doing better than I thought I would. I’ve been with him 60 years.”
She added: “He suffered a great deal. I’m at peace that he’s at peace, but that don’t keep me from missing him and loving him.
“It’s a hole in my heart, you know, but we'll fill that up with good stuff and he'll still always be with me.”

Dolly met her husband, a businessman who owned a Nashville asphalt company, when she was 18, on the day she moved to the Tennessee capital.
