But Trippier thinks this generation of Newcastle players have the experience and winning mentality that eluded even the stars of the past.

The defender said: "If you look at the history of Newcastle, you see unbelievable players.
"But the first time two years ago was too emotional. I’ve played in many finals and, when you stay so close to the stadium, the supporters are there and players who have never played in a final.
"It’s emotional, it can take a lot out of you, a lot of energy.
"But in this final, it was more relaxed before, it was more calm. That was the most important thing.
"We learned from the mistakes we made in terms of hotels, tickets — there were so many factors and it saps it out of you. Everything was well organised and that can play a big part in the result. We’ve been in that situation before and we knew how to handle it."
The hotel two years ago on Wembley’s doorstep is supposed to be the “lucky hotel”. This time they stayed in Hertfordshire and also tried to block out calls and texts for cup final tickets.
