The Brit, 23, lifted his biggest title at the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells on Sunday and broke into the world top 10 for the first time.
At No.7 in the world, Draper is now just 60 points behind fifth-ranked Novak Djokovic.
But Draper once doubted whether he was ready to commit to the life of a top tennis professional.
After his statement 6-2 6-2 win against Holger Rune in Sunday’s final, the British No.1 said: “It was kind of a period during lockdown.
“I had all these dreams of playing these tournaments when I was young and the reality set in of what I was going to have to do mentally, emotionally and the sacrifices and all the hard work that I was going to have to put in to do those things.
“It wasn’t going be easy and during lockdown — I was 18, I was kind of thinking, ‘Am I good enough?’”
“But also, ‘Is this the life I really want to do?’ I had a break from tennis for five, six months and was re-evaluating my options, even though I was still a good ranking of 280 in the world.
