Kennedy was passed fit just in advance of the showpiece meeting and took 17 mounts after he recovered from a sixth leg break.
But it was a stop-start programme as the 25-year-old stood himself down midway through Wednesday’s Champion Chase card.
He later took another knock when Corbetts Cross suffered a fatal fall in the Gold Cup on Friday.
Kennedy was absent yesterday as his boss, Gordon Elliott, celebrated St Patrick’s Day with an across-the-card six-timer at Down Royal and Wexford.
The rider’s agent Kevin O’Ryan said his client should return to action a couple of days before the Randox-backed National on April 5.
“Jack is OK, he is just sore after Cheltenham,” he added. “It was brilliant he made it in time for the Festival, but he’s giving the leg a bit of rest.
“I’d expect him to be back on the racecourse in two weeks.”
Kennedy could ride Three Card Brag in the National for Elliott – if the 33-1 shot makes the cut.The horse sits in position 50 with only 34 runners permitted to face the starter.
