Former Tory MP Andrew Percy, based in Vancouver, said it would make a statement amid Trump’s trade war and vows to make Canada America’s 51st state.
Mr Percy stressed: “It would put Trump in a really difficult position. He is going to accept a state visit with the King while showing disrespect for Canada — where he is monarch.”
Former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith also backed the calls, saying: “He is the King of Canada, too.”
