Back in the late nineties and early noughties, Lightweight’s original handmade carbon wheels were the ones the pros craved, with a weight well under 1,500g when the competition was over 2kg a pair. Even in the dying days of rim brakes for pro racing, teams such as Ineos still turned to Lightweight for the mountains. These latest dedicated climbing wheels boast 48mm-deep, 24mm-wide external and 18mm internal-width rims and use hand-crafted carbon hub shells and internals taken from DT Swiss’s exemplary Ratchet EXP design.
