eCargo bikes have been around for decades, but now there’s a new generation of more compact electric-assisted machines to help you out of your car and onto two wheels. Our quartet of bikes are all capable car replacements, thanks partly to a long wheelbase to give plenty of extra carrying capacity over a standard bike. They are equipped with powerful mid-mounted motors and large-capacity batteries. 01 Powerful motors All of the bikes here are running powerful mid-mounted motors. Yet all have been tuned and prepared to shift weight rather than shift speeds. The Cube, Cannondale and Trek all use one of Bosch’s Cargo Line motors.
