Zipp’s latest additions are the all-new 808 and 858, the last of the range to be revamped with the TSE design protocols.
The new wheels both use Zipp’s hookless rim design for better aerodynamics, lighter weight, better flexibility and more. But, importantly, they’re also greener to produce since long-life, solid-metal moulds are used. Hooked rims have to use one-use silicone mould inserts for every rim, so this is a massive environmental plus as it means there’s less carbon waste and no silicone waste.
It also has a direct positive knock-on effect for us, the customer: Zipp can now make the rims more efficiently and therefore cheaper. At £3,750 a pair for the 858s and £2,500 for the 808s, these new wheels are £622 and £230 less expensive per pair respectively than their…
