Every issue, Cycling Plus gives some love to Britain’s best independent bike shops

Newark Cycles, Nottinghamshire History ● Opened in 2016 as a small workshop with no grand business plan, just a love of bikes. It grew quickly into busy bike shop, absorbing premises next door. What makes this shop special? ● “We’re not businessmen, we’re cyclists!” says co-owner Simon. “We care about bikes and people, whether on a £12K Pinarello or a clunky shopper. We like to talk to our customers, understand their needs, and get them on the right machine.” What’s in store? ● Two shops knocked together: one side retail, the other a workshop. Brands include Raleigh, Moda, Lapierre, Forme, Eovolt and Neomouv. Also, fully Cytech-qualified mechanic, racer and time-trialler Jack, who’s a local legend, says Simon.
