“I took up cycling aged 39 after my father commented on my sedentary lifestyle: I was working in technology, so mostly sitting on my backside. My company also signed up to the Cycle to Work Scheme at this time, so I got my first road bike in years and started cycling to work. A friend convinced me to join local cycling club Kinross CC and I soon started competing in club time trials.
