My adventure into the exclusive world of high-end bespoke bikes started after a conversation with regular Cycling Plus contributor, Stephen Roche, our go-to-expert for all things wind-tunnel and bike-fit related. The founder of the Brighton-based Bike Tailor and one of the cycling experts at Silverstone’s Sports Engineering Hub (SSEH), Roche asked me what I was riding. I’d had a succession of newly launched super-high-end bikes from the biggest brands in the world, all top-end carbon fibre, Dura-Ace Di2, SRAM Red AXS, and top-of-the-range components.
