The Giant SLR 2 50 Disc wheelset is the Taiwanese giant’s entry-level all-round carbon wheelset. Unlike most wheels at this price point, it has hookless rims, with progressively wide dimensions. With hookless, you must use tubeless tyres (as opposed to clincher tyres), given the tighter tolerances between a straight rim wall and tyre bead. You can run inner tubes inside those tyres if you wish though. The 22.4mm inner rim width is progressive (at this price, it’s rare to see any wider than 21mm). It’s designed to increase compliance and tyre grip (presuming you adopt lower tyre pressures).
