Want to extract more performance from your bike? A carbon wheelset upgrade is often considered the way to go. Alongside upgrading tyres, wheels are arguably the most influential change you can make to your bike. While many brands spec alloy wheels on their lower-priced bikes to help keep the price down, the door is left ajar for a carbon hoops upgrade down the line, to make a tangible difference to how your bike rides. The most obvious benefit of going carbon is to have deeper-section rims for greater aerodynamic performance, without the weight penalty that such a deep rim would have if it were made of alloy.
