On its best days, the Cotswolds area is a joy to roam on two wheels, despite its numerous, punchy out-of-the-saddle climbs. With its chocolate box villages, stately homes and lush meadows, many would think of the region as the apotheosis of England, or perhaps how England thinks of itself. Its reputation extends worldwide, making it a must-visit destination, as is evident in the coach parks on the edge of many of its most pictueresque villages.
