WELCOME… As a first-time parent whose child recently started nursery, I am no stranger to illness. I can measure in days rather than weeks the consecutive run on the bike that I can enjoy before I’m derailed by some unspeakable lurgy and it’s the one-year-old who is invariably identified as patient zero in our house. Throw in Christmas, New Year and all the social mixing those festivities involve, and by the time you read this, I may well be a husk of a man. By heeding the advice in James Witts’ feature on boosting immunity (p32), however, I’ll stand a fighting chance. So, I’m off to Holland & Barrett to stuff my bag with all the vit D, omega-3 and zinc it can hold.…
