£1,795 A smart bike to take on Peloton?

With the Proton, Wattbike – fabled for their high-performance static bikes – are looking to take a slice of the Peloton and Zwift Ride pie and hit the wider health and home-trainer market. Adjustability, flexibility and easy setup are how they intend to strike gold. The 48kg bike, which has a maximum power output of 1,800w, can be adjusted without tools, for users ranging from 4ft 6in (137cm) to 6ft 6in (198cm) tall, making it easy for several people in one household to use it. At £1,795, it’s cheaper than Wattbike’s Atom (£2,145), which is tailored to the more hardcore cyclist. Concessions to the price include (imperceptibly) slower gear changes.
