Spin it whichever way you wish, but winter is categorically the worst season of the year for cyclists. That, however, doesn’t mean there’s no fun to be had – and increasingly so, with the leaps and bounds in technology. And last winter, it led me directly to my new off-season hobby – tile-hunting. Also known as tile-bagging, I’d been aware of its existence for a little while. I was scrolling through Strava and noticed how bizarre a few riders’ routes appeared. Instead of a clearly defined loop or point-to-point, these were random, jagged squiggles, as if they were constantly taking wrong turns.
