Bags of bike for your bucks and a lovely long-distance cruiser

Each of our trio would make a fine commuter bike, although they offer different strengths and weaknesses. The All-City is the best of our three for a long-distance commute on a variety of surfaces. In fact, the combination of fairly wide, grippy tyres and a handmade steel frame delivers excellent comfort on all sorts of surfaces, while the wide-range gearing will cope with most terrain too. The comfort is matched by a raft of well-chosen componentry, taking in an excellent wheel and tyre combo, and a good saddle and cockpit. Braking is fine too, courtesy of cable disc brakes. But I can’t help but feel that the price is a little high. Yes, the frame is lovely. Yes, the ride is smooth and sumptuous, but for two grand I’d expect…
