● The top-spec (and even second-tier) groupsets from both Shimano and SRAM are now electronic rather than mechanical.
Cockpits
● Most pro-spec bikes now come with one-piece carbon handlebar and stems, sometimes referred to as ‘cockpits’. These are often proprietary, but some bikes offer flexibility to run a two piece set-up or a third-party choice.
Reach and stack
● These are two of the key geometry figures dictating your ride position. The reach is the horizontal distance between the centre of the bottom bracket and the centre of the head-tube. The stack is the vertical distance between the top of the head-tube to the centre of the bottom bracket. Longer and lower is generally considered more aggressive, and typical of a race bike.
