The famed Japanese artist, known for his brightly coloured anime-style artworks, never fails to sprinkle his brand of joy dust, whether on Louis Vuitton bags, Vans sneakers or Kanye West’s album cover. In doing so, he invariably repurposes these luxury handbags and skate shoes into expressions of childlike pop art that are so disarmingly charming, one can’t help but be drawn into Murakami’s world.
